Setup instructions

Access apps and services like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and more on Google Play directly in your car—you just need to sign into your NissanConnect and Google Accounts. Make sure you can access both of these accounts for Google built-in setup.

Don't have a Google account or don't want to log in with it? While some apps can be used offline or when signed out, certain features may be limited. If you don't have a personal Google Account, you can create one on another device.

Step 1: Log into NissanConnect

Follow these steps to log in:

Log in to NissanConnect® in the vehicle on the touchscreen display.
Type in your NissanConnect® credentials. These are the same credentials used to log in to the MyNISSAN app.
Tap the “Login” button when complete. Do NOT press the “Next” button or your information will be deleted, and you’ll need to complete this step again.
When the login is successful, you’ll see a confirmation message appear on the screen, and a green checkmark will appear next to “Customize your profile” screen. Note: Remote functions of the MyNISSAN app will not work unless this step is completed.
Next you can log in to your Google Account to receive personalized Google Maps and Google Assistant recommendations.

Step 2: Set up Google Account

Safety Reminder: Ensure your vehicle is in park before proceeding with setup.

Start your car
Confirm your online connection
Follow the on-screen instructions:
- Choose your preferred language
- Sign in to your Google Account
- Accept terms and conditions
- Configure your Google Assistant

Note: Incomplete setup will prompt notifications. Tap "Finish setting up your profile" in the notification to continue.

What else do I need to know?

Settings vary by manufacturer. See owner's manual for more information. This feature is only compatible with vehicles with Google built-in.

Vehicles with Google built-in are vehicles that come with Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play directly integrated into the vehicle, allowing you to access your favorite apps and services right when you get into the vehicle, without needing to connect your phone.

How do vehicles with Google built-in work?

Vehicles with Google built-in work by connecting your vehicle to your Google Account. Once your vehicle is connected, you can use Google Assistant to control the vehicle's features, such as the climate control, audio system, and navigation. You can also use Google Maps for navigation and traffic information, and Google Play to download and install apps (data connection required).

I recently purchased a vehicle equipped with Google built-in, but I do not see any “remote access” features (such as remote start/stop, lock/unlock, or alerts) in the MyNISSAN app.

To use remote vehicle functions in the MyNISSAN app on vehicles with Google built-in, each user must sign-in to their user profile in the vehicle’s touchscreen display using their unique NissanConnect Services credentials. Each driver and up to four Additional Drivers can download the MyNISSAN app and set up their own login credentials. NissanConnect Services, NISSAN ID and MyNISSAN app login credentials are all the same username and password.

For vehicles that are not equipped with Google built-in, remote functions of the app do not require any in-vehicle logins.

How do I use Google Assistant?

Google Assistant is an in-vehicle hands-free control of the infotainment, navigation, media communications and vehicle cabin settings using just your voice. Easily connect to and control compatible smart home devices while in the vehicle for peace of mind and convenience. Keep in touch and stay updated on incoming messages and calls and quickly reply - without touching your phone. Even without a connection, Google Assistant can still help with vehicle controls, entertainment, and more.

How do I navigate with Google Maps?

Continuously updated from a host of sources, Google Maps provides highly accurate navigation with turn-by-turn and lane specific guidance. Google Maps provides real-time guidance that changes depending on weather or traffic conditions and allows maps to be downloaded for offline coverage. With billions of Points of Interest (POIs), Google Maps helps users find what’s relevant in the moment and provides detailed information about POIs like reviews, hours, etc.

How do I use Google Play?

With Google Play, you can easily download your favorite apps on your car just as you would on your phone. Conveniently listen to your favorite music, podcasts, audiobooks, and more directly from your car.

What is the difference between vehicles with Google built-in and Android Auto™?

Android Auto requires a user to connect an Android ™ phone to a compatible vehicle, relying on the phone to power the functionality. Vehicles with Google built-in integrate Google apps and services directly into the car display, providing a more helpful driving experience, allowing drivers to control their vehicle settings and more with just their voice.

Can I use Android Auto at the same time as Google built-in?

No, you can either use Android Auto or Google built-in, but not simultaneously.

What if I do not want to log in to NissanConnect in the vehicle?

For newer vehicles equipped with Google built-in, users will not receive any connected services or remote functions in the MyNISSAN app, such as remote start/stop, lock/unlock, or alerts.

What if I do not want to log in to Google in the vehicle?

Users who are not logged into their Google Account on their vehicle will still be able to use Google Assistant for basic voice commands and Google Maps for navigation, but they will not have the ability to save places or set home/work locations. Any locations used in Google Maps will be erased when the vehicle is turned off. These users will not be able to access more third-party apps that are available for download on Google Play.

What happens if a user profile is locked and the password is lost/unknown?

In the vehicle, the user should switch to Guest mode. Once in Guest mode, the user should navigate to Settings > Users > Guest Profile. Then log in to the owner’s NissanConnect® Services account (while still in Guest mode). Check to ensure NissanConnect® Services is activated and then have the Owner open their MyNISSAN App. Within the app, click Vehicle (button on lower navi bar) > Vehicle Profile > Remote Data wipe. Follow prompts on head unit to complete the process.

Note: This will reset the head unit to factory settings including all radio presets, profiles, accounts linked in the head unit, etc.
